This attitude, the whole “only lesbians can be feminists” thing, drove me away from any type of feminist discussion in the first place. Good to see a rational take.

Yes, it left me feeling uncomfortable. I think it arises from the sense that PinV sex is patriarchal. I don’t think it is, because PinV sex certainly happened long before patriarchy existed & happens in matriarchies too. Women need boundaries & spaces, literally & metaphorically, away from men, but to argue that ever exiting those is unfeminist seems profoundly illogical.

Yes. Very illogical. Desperate women, turning to dogmatic, illogical thought processes, when faced with unreasonable and seemingly insurmountable hatred from homophobic fascists. It's enough to make people religious too.

It put me off a little too. But I decided to debate those extremist lesbian feminists if I came across it, because I'm sure their decisions were unduly influenced by the outrageous homophobia they face on a regular basis. I think basic solidarity with oppressed women overrides objection to their eccentricities.
